State:Texas

A: Hard to tell you without your state and zip code and the value of the car, and what sort of insurance you’re required by law to have and what additional insurance you wish to add.

Update:
You’ll also need to provide the age you received your license, your occupation (certain occupations get discounts)
Your education level or if you’re a student.

What you’ll use the car for, commuting, pleasure etc how many miles you think you’ll drive in a year.

If you own a home or boat or any other insurable thing affects your rate. As a previous answerer mentioned, your rate is based on how much insurance business the company thinks they can get out of you. e.g. if you own a home and switch to their home insurance you get a further discount on your car insurance.

Zip Code is actually pretty crucial in the calculation of insurance because if you live in a high crime zip code where your car is more likely to be damaged or stolen, that will add more to your premium.

The quickest way to find out would be to get a free online quote from esurance.com geico.com aaa.com or progressive.com.

I’d recommend progressive because they just email you a quote and don’t call you or require your phone number.

Q: whats a good down payment on a silver pontiac solstice convertible?
In a few months im turning 16 and im getting that car.
Yeah, I know, my mom whos paying it should know all of this stuff, but I just need to know the monthly payment which I need to know how much a down payment we should do.

A: It depends on Mommy’s credit.

Q: What is the best bicycle carrier I can install to my 2007 Pontiac Solstice Convertible?

A: You need to install trailer hitch with the draw tie style square mount and there are 3 different bike carriers that use that mount.

Check with UHaul hitch installers, any one near you that installs hitches on cars

and remember if they list a hitch just for the Saturn SKY it will work on the Solstice just fine.

I don’t have time to shop it right now… Good Luck…

Q: does the pontiac solstice convertible have a roof?
I was looking at them online and if it does have a roof where does it come out of?

A: yep it has a targa roof

Q: Does anyone know where i can find a pontiac solstice or a convertible new beetle for under $10,000?
i have a small budget of about $10,000 and need a car i was thinking of a new beetle convertible or pontiac solstice. i know, don’t laugh, a pontiac solstice is more pricey and not near $10,000 but was hoping if anyone knows of any on sale or a place to get them for cheap.
thanks so much i have been searching for a while and could use the extra help.

A: here in s.w. missouri u can buy a convertable new beetle for under $10G, but it won’t be a new new beetle. ur prolly looking at an ‘03.

try looking at e-bay or calling a few dealers in ur area and ‘put out the word’ as to what ur looking for, they have the resources, they can find u what u want.

Q: My husband wants to get a Pontiac Solstice convertible…?
Thanks for the heads up.
Neither of us know much about cars. Are they good cars – Should we stay away from GM?

Thanks!

A: They are fun cars to drive not a lot of room. We have seen some rear end problems but you do get a long warranty.

Q: 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse Convertible, 2009 Pontiac Solstice Convertible or 2009 Ford Mustang Convertible?
I love them all but still cant choose
Help me please

A: Coming with someone who loves her eclispe….I would have to say go with the Eclipse…The 09’s are gorgeous…I don’t know if i would ever go with a convertible again but that’s just me. Mustang would be my second choice, red or black on either would be my decision.

Q: How much is it monthly to lease a Pontiac Solstice?
If I want a 2008 Pontiac Solstice Convertible fully loaded which would come to about $24,000 and I have over 720 credit and put $2,500 down and I want to lease it for 3 years %0 APR. Approximately how much would my monthly bill be? All the “estimate payments” I have tried come to a price that you would be paying for a BMW so I want someone to answer me that has this car.

A: Go to leaseguide.com and use their lease caclulator.
The lease number is determined by a few things.
1. The sticker price.
2. Your negotiated sales price.
3. The money factor (the interest rate used in leasing) and
4. the residaul for the car at the end of the lease.
Also, it will change based on terms (122436 months)
Never put money down on al ease and never lease beyond the warranty!

Q: Which car is more fun to drive, Mustang V6 Convertible or Pontiac Solstice?
Going to be renting one of them later this month. They are both similar price. So, which is the better drive?

A: The Pontiac.
The smaller car is always more fun to drive and better handling.

The Ford Mustang is a heavy car and the aerodynamics are bad since its boxy design.
It is a slow car and it handles badly because of the size and weight.

The Pontiac is small and light. It is 10 times more fun to drive.

I have driven over 200 cars including the Mustang. I don’t see why people like Mustangs.

Q: how does the pontiac solstice gxp convertible handle in the snow/wilnter driving?

A: The weight distribution is close to 50-50. The turbocharged engine is not well suited to slippery conditions.

If you have to ask, you should not drive it in the winter.

I would put narrow snow tires on it for the winter, and upshift at around 1500 rpm to stay out of the turbo.

I drove a ‘70 AMX in the winter (back when we had winters in Minnesota) without any problems – 60% of the weight on the front, 390ft-lbs, 4 speed close ratio manual. It is about the same wieght as the Solstice GXP, with a lot more torque.

Q: 2009 Pontiac Solstice GXP Convertible, 2009 Saturn SKY Red Line, or Opel GT?
can you tell me the mpg?
top speed?
and which you would get ?

A: i hav no i dea about the opel. top speed for the solstice and skyy is gonna be 160 mph highway gas mileage is 25 mpg city gas mileage is 19 mpg.

Q: What your overview on the car Pontiac Solstice 2D Convertible!?
I’m consedering in purchasing my first vehicle and this is my top choice. I’m 20 yrs old and i have driving experience for about 3 years. My parents are old fashion so they dont recommend this vehicle for multiple reason ( small bad for accidents, 2 seater, no reliable, etc) I know parents are always right but idealty i always wanted the Nissan Z but it’s a big loan and I’m still going to school. Does anyone own this vehicle if so do you recommend it? Is is a good car?? Ohh by the way i can only afford payments no more than 400 but 450 is negotiable. Thanks and appreciate the input in this matter.
Omg i was browing online at this website carmax and i found Nissan Z for reasonable price. This is my dream car!! I really want this car I have a feeling that this is a better than the Poniac and Saturn.

A: At age 20 why would you want to strap yourself to a $450 per month car payment? This would be a fun car but the insurance would be a killer. It will be bad no matter what you drive but this or the Z would be really bad as they are classed as sports cars. Get something that is going to be affordable and reliable. It doesn’t need to be a geezer car but one that would be better suited to a young driver.

Q: Does the Pontiac Solstice come in hard-top convertible??

A: nope. Just the soft top

Q: 2009 Pontiac Solstice vs. 2009 Pontiac G6 GT Convertible?
im getting a new car soon,
and cannot decide which is the better car of the two.
so opinions are greatly appreciated:]

A: Solstice and here is why I have a mechanic that has been to 3 training classes on the G6 convertible and the top has failed in every class they are not very reliable.

Q: can someone tell me if pontiac solstice is a hard top convertible or a soft top convertible?

A: Right now it only comes as a soft top convertible. There are prototypes of it being a sports coup as well (non-convertible)

Q: pontiac solstic fabric roof top in extreme winters?
i am newbie in auto convertibles , i am about the buy a Pontiac solstice 2007 and will be using it in my daily routine ( as a first car ) . I was wondering whether leather roof top works in toronto extreme cold weather ?what about the heat temp and leakage ? and will it damage the roof top if i park the car in open air .

A: I can’t tell you about the cold, but the Solstice roof handles hard rains well, if you take care of it. Make sure you attache/detach it carefully because you can slice the roof seal with the prongs on the roof. That will cause a leak.

You can join the Solstice Forum group and get in contact with a Canadian owner who can give you more detailed info.

Q: Help! I just bought a new G6 Convertible, got 0% interest and now they are saying can’t do 0%, bring it back.
I purchased this G6 Convertible under the terms of 0% interest last Tuesday. Today I received a phone call from the finance manager saying I need to bring the car and back redo paperwork because they cannot do 0%. I think the reason is.. Pontiac is offering 0% interest this week on there cars. Well in the fine print on the website it states the G6 convertible and Solstice are not included in this deal, and they just caught their mistake. I have to drive 200 miles to return the car and look at the financing they are proposing. I asked if I could just have my car back (03 Accord) and they said *probably*. The paperwork says if they do not meet the finance terms the contract is null and void. When I return the car it will have 1000 miles on it and be ranked as Used (in my opinion). So does anyone have any bargaining ideas for me or ever dealt with this situation before? I really like the car and would like to keep it but not for alot more money.

A: You probably should contact an attorney. The dealer has some liability in this matter, and a week is a little long to find this out.

Alternately you can use Capital One on-line and get a great rate (if you qualify) and use the rebate to pay down the purchase amount if there is a rebate. But if you go in looking desperate to keep the car, they will win and sock you with a higher than necessary rate because you let your emotions rule over your head. Keep things in prospective!

Q: 2 seat convertible question..?
so out of these cars, what would u say would be the best car to buy used, with 50K miles on it

http://www.goldenstatecars.com/

BMW Z4
BMW Z3
Audi TT (almost 2 seater)
Honda S2000
Pontiac Solstice or Saturn Sky

let me know what you think, the years would be around because i want it under 20K
and for the Sky and Solstice, of course the 2006 version being its the only one
and Z4 2003 being thats when it came out

A: I would say the S2000 for reliability , The Z4 for comfort and the Saturn or the Pontiac for looks. And i’m not to fond of the old TT and the Z3 isn’t any better So I would go with the Z4 out of what you listed but I’m personally a Porsche guy and have owned three now and for what your looking for see if you can find a nice boxter.

Good Luck

Q: should i buy a boxster, z4 or solstice?
i have just under $23,000 canadian and with that money i can buy a used 2000 porsche boxster with 122 000 km on it or a 2003 bmw z4 with 74 500 km on it. or the 2006 pontiac sostice the one my dad wants me to get but i prefer the porsche. he says porsche is too old and too costly to maintain and he doesnt like bmws he says solstice cause its new and only has 14 000 km on it but i think the old boxster would still be able to out perform the solstice and will be worth more than it by next year. but my dads says if i follow all the rules of the streets i wont need speed or race performance i wud just need a good looking car at this age(16).

what do you guys think who have experience with convertibles
i see what my dad is saying about me being 16 and shouldnt worry about brand power and performance but i dont want a short end of the deal.

thanks alot for ur input

A: buy a copy of Consumer reports auto issue

and show him how the 2006 Pontiac Solstice is on the used cars to avoid list.

the z4 has a lot of miles on it.

the porsche is getting old.

are you able to do any work your self or have a good mechanic? if your going to the dealership the service and parts will break you.

for $23K you should be able to find a 04 Z4 with less miles,
02 Porsche Boxster, Honda S2000 05 or a mazda miata.

the solstice has a poor engine and gearbox and a poor reliability record.

Q: Should i buy a BOXSTER, Z4 or SOLSTICE?
i have just under $23,000 canadian and with that money i can buy a used 2000 porsche boxster with 122 000 km on it or a 2003 bmw z4 with 74 500 km on it. or the 2006 pontiac sostice the one my dad wants me to get but i prefer the porsche. he says porsche is too old and too costly to maintain and he doesnt like bmws he says solstice cause its new and only has 14 000 km on it but i think the old boxster would still be able to out perform the solstice and will be worth more than it by next year. but my dads says if i follow all the rules of the streets i wont need speed or race performance i wud just need a good looking car at this age(16).

thanks alot for ur input

A: The only one you could even come close to being able to afford the maintenance/repairs on would be a Solsice and even that may be pushing it.

I would go with a car you can actually afford rather than trying to impress people by buying a used luxury vehicle to give off the impression that you have more means than you actually do.

Q: Which car should I buy?? I have it down to 2 choices. Solstice convertible or Cadillac conv??
I could go either way. Love them both, clearly one is more expensive. As far as quality and durability is price going to mean quality, or should I go with the Solstice? Thank you!!!

A: I’d go with the caddy… Im with you though, both are nice rides..

Q: Does the Pontiac Solstice come in hard-top convertible??

A: nope. Just the soft top

Q: can someone tell me if pontiac solstice is a hard top convertible or a soft top convertible?

A: Right now it only comes as a soft top convertible. There are prototypes of it being a sports coup as well (non-convertible)

Q: How can I repair my convertible top? My neighbors cat used it as a scratching post!!?
Its a brand new car! I’ve had it for a month! Its a black top on a GXP Solstice. I would kill the cat, but that wouldn’t fix my car. Also, there is the fact that my neighbors refuse to pay for it even though I caught the cat doing it, and carried it over to their house and showed them what their cat had done. It’ll cost me like 2k to replace it… how can I fix it? OH.. and reporting it to my insurance isn’t an option… I am 19.. my insurance will go up tremendously with even a small claim.
I’m talking about repairing my top people.. not taking someone to court. Is there any way to repair my top?

A: Sue your neighbors. Seriously, that is what you need to do. Check for the small claims limit in Ohio; I’ll bet it’s around $2,000, so you can sue them for up to that much without lawyers involved. Just get three estimates, then go to the county courthouse and file a small claims suit. The clerk will hep you with the paperwork.

Send the notice of the court date certified mail, along with a polite letter and the estimates, letting them know they can avoid the suit if they just act reasonably and pay up.

If you win, and they don’t pay, you file a motion to have them held in contempt, and then they get carted off to jail until they comply with the judge’s ruling.

Your insurance probably won’t go up as much as you think, though – a cat scratching your car is not a moving violation, which is what raises your rates. See if it’s covered, then make a claim and let the insurance company sue your neighbors.

Q: Should i buy a BOXSTER, Z4 or SOLSTICE?
i have just under $23,000 canadian and with that money i can buy a used 2000 porsche boxster with 122 000 km on it or a 2003 bmw z4 with 74 500 km on it. or the 2006 pontiac sostice the one my dad wants me to get but i prefer the porsche. he says porsche is too old and too costly to maintain and he doesnt like bmws he says solstice cause its new and only has 14 000 km on it but i think the old boxster would still be able to out perform the solstice and will be worth more than it by next year. but my dads says if i follow all the rules of the streets i wont need speed or race performance i wud just need a good looking car at this age(16).

i see what my dad is saying about me being 16 and shouldnt worry about brand power and performance but i dont want a short end of the deal.

thanks alot for ur input

A: The only one you could even come close to being able to afford the maintenance/repairs on would be a Solsice and even that may be pushing it.

I would go with a car you can actually afford rather than trying to impress people by buying a used luxury vehicle to give off the impression that you have more means than you actually do.

Good Luck

Q: Any good Sports car for big & tall drivers?
I’m 6′9″, 350 lbs and I love sports cars. I’m sick of being stuck driving my SUV or Truck around all the time, and want something I can have some fun with.

I currently have a 3000GT VR4 Spyder, and I fit in it fine and I love it, but I’m looking to pick up another fun car.

I used to own a Datsun 280zx and I fit in this fine too. I also recently test drove a C4 corvette and I fit, but not if I was wearing long pants- that close.

I don’t fit in the cadillac CTS, and I don’t fit in the Viper. I also don’t fit in my favorite car- the Saturn Sky, nor do I fit in the solstice (clearly), or the Mazda Miata.

a two door convertible is my first choice, but I can probably give up on the convertible part , but it’s got to have some level of rarity or prestige- I don’t think a camaro or mustang is quite what I’m looking for, although I do fit! Initially I was going to say it has to be between 5 and 20 years old, however, I’ll even relax that- ANY year sports car that is good for big and tall drivers!

Thanks!

A: Well…
I personally believe the Aston Martin V8 vantage is Extremely Comfortable for Big and tall Drivers.
It has a vast amount of legroom and is very spacious.
Check it out!

Q: Pontiac Solstice, do you think is a good deal?
This is the price from a dealer.
$26,949.92 plus tax and license.
he says the sticker price on this is $28000.
I’m gonna buy it tomorrow and I was thinking about getting it down to 26k, what do you guys think?

A: I disagree with the first response as Pontiacs are as reliable as most. More in some cases.

To your question, I would definitely go for 26K. You have the most leverage now in the negotiation stages than once you sign. Everyone who owns one is quite happy. It is a good mix of economy and performance in a great sporty body. I am considering one myself.

If this dealer is not willing to budge then find another. Online search can help you argue purchase prices as well. For instance I did a quick search and found one here (http://www.cars.com/go/buy-cars/kdc/Pontiac/?CMP=KNC-GoogLead&HBX_PK=buy%20pontiac&HBX_OU=50&domainid=47&detid=1814990/) and there are some at great prices.

The key is how much of a hurry you are to purchase one. Waiting a bit if you can’t get the price you want may be best.

Good luck and hope this helps.
